In an interview with the Midweek Watch, Makuku said everyone has a role to play in promoting and building their communities and his donation to Chimedza Primary School is his own share of collective responsibility.

“I am willing to continue working with those in leadership positions to come up with ideas that lead to change, beginning with educational institutions, creating opportunities for the youth. We must utilize our opportunities here in diaspora to actively participate in community development back home. We have donated sportswear, balls and nets to more than 15 schools and local teams and it is an ongoing project as we aim to continue giving back to the community. Personally Chimedza Primary is very sentimental to me as it played a vital part in my upbringing, it is my maternal home therefore I remain attached to it. I believe I also have a role to play in promoting and building communities, it is a shared and collective responsibility,” said Makuku.

Besides being involved in various charity projects, Makuku said he mainly focuses on sports because it is a way to keep the youths away from streets and drugs by doing something which they like and enjoy.
